social security income for low birth weight?

my daughter currently receives ssi for low birth weight. she is now 6 months old. we have a review to determine if she is still eligible to recevie benefits. how do they determine eligibility? i thought all infants who received ssi weren't reviewed for eligibility until 1 ys of age?! please, does any one now anything about ssi for infants with low birth weight? thanks bunches.

  1. It's probably just to see where your daughter is at developmentally and if she really is disabled to the point that you need to receive social security payments. I wouldn't worry. It's probably simular to what an occupational therapist would do at a NICU follow-up appointment.
  2. All I can tell you is that Bush Jr is trying his best to get ppl off of SSI. Evidently ever since welfare reform, more ppl are applying for disability; so, from the federal pressure, states are asking for reviews after 6 months. As far as low birth weight, this is all I found: http://www.ferndale.wednet.edu/healthsvcs/PDF_files/SSI%20Infantchild.pdf
