my daughter currently receives ssi for low birth weight. she is now 6 months old. we have a review to determine if she is still eligible to recevie benefits. how do they determine eligibility? i thought all infants who received ssi weren't reviewed for eligibility until 1 ys of age?! please, does any one now anything about ssi for infants with low birth weight? thanks bunches.

- It's probably just to see where your daughter is at developmentally and if she really is disabled to the point that you need to receive social security payments. I wouldn't worry. It's probably simular to what an occupational therapist would do at a NICU follow-up appointment.
- All I can tell you is that Bush Jr is trying his best to get ppl off of SSI. Evidently ever since welfare reform, more ppl are applying for disability; so, from the federal pressure, states are asking for reviews after 6 months. As far as low birth weight, this is all I found: http://www.ferndale.wednet.edu/healthsvcs/PDF_files/SSI%20Infantchild.pdf
