Why are our elected politcians giving more Social Security benefits to immigrants, than we who worked for it?

If an immigrant is over 65 they can apply for SSI and Medicaid and get more than my mom gets for Social Security and she worked from 1944 until 2004. She is only getting $791 per month because she was born in 1924 and there is a "catch 22". It is interesting that the federal government provides a single Refugee with a monthly allowance of $1890.00 and each can also obtain an Additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of $2470.00/month. This compares very well to a single pensioner who after contributing to the growth and development of America for 40 to 50 years can only receive a monthly maximum of $1012.00 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement. Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees! Consider sending this to all your American friends so we can all be ticked off and may be get the refugees cut back to $ 1012.00 and the Pensioners up to $2470.00 and enjoy some of the money we were forced to submit to the Government over the last 40 or 50 or 60 years. Please forward to every American to expose what our elected Politicians have been doing over the past 11 years - to the over-taxed American. The point, youare, is should refugees get free money for no work? Americans don't. That's the whole point! Folks, did I mention anywhere in this question the word "illegal"? No I didn't. It's about immigrants. Is this not the Immigration catagory?????

1. And people wonder why the illegals should be shipped out....by the time I retire, I there probably won't be and SS left to collect. It's a shame and I'm really sorry for your hard working mother. She shouldn't be treated this way. :0(
2. the only ones who should be shipped out are the white-collared decision makers who make these policies possible...they're the ones making a state of dependancy...don't forget how the fed recently bailed out several banking institutions, many of which passed out loans to illegals and went bankrupt expecting them to repay their debts...but how do you track someone down who doesn't even have a SSN?

4. That is outrageous but not surprising. Our Politicos have their own separate pension fund that no one gets to touch except them. The real soilution is to put the politicos on Social Security They wouldn't be giving it away then.
5. Correct me if I'm wrong on my response below:::: AND I want to point out that I personally disagree with ANY payments going to ANY new immigrant from ANY government (taxpayer funded) program. Only a few refugees can obtain this benefit and there is a limited time limit on their ability to collect this money. I also know they have to be legally classified as a refugee. Also only a small number of refugees are admitted every year. I will add that it is my understanding that the elderly who immigrate (think of family reunification programs) can qualify for SS and Medicaid immediately and are never required to take any tests for english proficiency. EDIT to xenypoo - Did you read my post? I clearly stated that I feel that no immigrant (legal or illegal) should get any taxpayer funded services. My only exception would be legal immigrants after they worked here for at least 10 years. Social security needs to go back to its roots. You should only get out based on what you paid in. No exceptions. If they did this then SS would be solvent forever!!!

7. That is ridiculous, I agree. IF one person can live on 1012 a month, they should all be able to, and, someone that paid into the system should be able to draw more out. However, to the above posters: This is not undocumented. These are refugees. Legally here. Allowed to be here. Refugees from other countries. This has nothing to do with illegals. Illegals can't collect social security. Period.
8. You need to provide a link for all this or I will just consider your information a rant. Illegals cannot apply for SSI. Legal immigrants that have been working and paying in are entitled to the same benefits as any of us. And as far as I know, you can't draw both SSI and your Social Security check.
9. I feel the same way you do, but to me it seems like the lawmakers and politicians just dont care about the working class of America. If I am working my butt off so I know I have financial safety when I am older (which I probably wont have anyway), I dont want to know that some shmut landed here and decided to take advantage of the stuff I did
10. Because it`s your money and not the politicians , and they could care less as long as it doesn`t affect them !! The biggest reason is to get more VOTES @ re-election time !!!
