The auto industry and pension fund?

What is the direct effect of this economic crisis of the auto industry on their employees pension fund. Are they gonna cut some benefits even you are already retired? what about if you are still working for them and have a contribution based pension plan, are they gonna stop contributing ?

1. I believe they have a defined benefit plan so they owe you a check each month for the same amount. They needed to fund this so it was enough but they may not have. If they go belly up the government will take over the plan and pay you about half what you expected.
