Are govt contributions to my pension fund taxable?

I am a teacher and every 2 weeks, in addition to my own contribution, the govt (employer) contributes some amount of money to this pension fund for teachers of the state I live in.

  1. Generally the contributions are not taxable when they are made. When you take a distribution from the pension fund, that distribution is generally taxable.
